Cora Shor

Meet Cora Shor. Sedona Pet Care Giver
Q. What inspired or lead you to your current career?
A.  I have been in love with dogs and cats my entire life.  Even though I ended up working professionally as an RN, when i decided to cut back and retire it was a no brainer that I would become more involved in caring for people’s animals and pets.  Sedona is such an animal friendly, and loving place.  That’s how I fell into becoming a pet sitter and dog walker.
Q. How long have you lived in Sedona and what brought you here?
A.  A little over 6 1/2 years.  My husband brought me here. The warm weather, the beautiful scenery and getting away from the snow in Upstate New York were major factors.
Q.  Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Sedona?
A. I’m going to say Susannah Martin.  I love music and I studied it before becoming a nurse.  I love supporting local musicians and found it so wonderful to find someone as talented as she is… and she is iiving in our area and giving to the community.
Q.Is there anyone dead or alive with whom you would like to have dinner, and why?
A. After thinking about it I have chosen Caesar Milan.  When he was on TV with different shows, I watched as many as I could and read a lot of his books.  Even though I’m not a trainer, he inspired me.  I feel like I follow a lot of his principles in helping clients with their dogs.
Q.  What one piece of advice were you given that changed your life?
A.  Remember to breathe and take time to smell the flowers!
Q. When a friend comes to visit you in Sedona, where do you take them?
A.  Upper and Lower Red Rock Loop Road for the scenery, up and down Dry Creek, and almost anywhere in Sedona other than Uptown.
Q. How would your closest friend describe you?
A.   Loyal, honest, devoted, thorough and passionate.
Q.  What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A.  Appreciate every day and every moment that you’re alive, because we never know how long we’re going to be here.
Q.  What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A.  I’m passionate about scuba diving!  I’ve done it mostly in the Caribbean.  I’m considering getting re-certified even though it’s been 15 or 20 years.  I snorkel at this point , but I haven’t gone diving because we haven’t been anywhere near good diving areas.
Q.  What three words come to mind when you think of the word ‘home’?
A.  Comfort, my animals and my husband.
