Meet Craig Nimtz. Craig is known to many locals as the owner operator of Senor Bob’s Hot Dogs and Burgers!… a favorite with many Sedona and surrounding residents.
Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
A: I originally came from Santa Barbara, where I had a Crooked Chair Company, creating Mexican-style furniture. It has been popular during the last 20 years, and you can find my furniture in many homes here in Sedona. Afterward, I started serving hot dogs at Señor Bob’s Hot Dogs in West Sedona. It has been voted “the best hot dogs and hamburgers” for the third year in a row. We just added subs to the menu, which has been popular. We also make our own bread.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Sedona?
A: My wife and I have been here for 28 years now.
Q: You do a lot of volunteering in town. Tell us about that.
A: We usually have a costume party for Halloween at Senor Bob’s. I miss the hotdog eating contest. If everything goes back to normal, I would like to do that again at the back deck, in a controlled environment, and have live music.
Q: What is one piece of advice that has most changed your life?
A: Bob Larson, the owner of the Sedona Red Rock News, is the real Senor Bob. He was my landlord. He gave helped me with my furniture business so that I could get my life back together. I have been sober for 19 years. He had confidence in me which I appreciate.
Q: What would you consider your greatest accomplishment?
A: Winning the Best Burger in Sedona. That was an honor for me considering Butterfly Burger just opened.
Q: Choosing anyone with whom would you love to have lunch and why?
A: My wife, since I haven’t seen her in years, and we never have time for lunch. We’re so busy!
Q: What is something that you love about Sedona?
A: I like the growth of the city. When people complain about traffic, I tell them it used to take me eight hours to get from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara.
Q: What else would you like to see in our town?
A: I would like to see some more art events here in town.
